Running a design studio in a small town isn’t always easy, but surrounding ourselves with interesting and energetic people is what gives us the inspiration to keep at it. In celebration we’d like to share some of the people and places that have motivated us to get involved:
The “Friends of Marloth” we helped found in 2016 and assist regularly by means of marketing, chairing the board meetings at our studio, and spreading the natural beauty found in our local nature reserve.
The dedicated volunteers at the SPCA in Railton, a daunting task but a blessing to those in need, we have assisted in organising sponsored signage, photography and a new website, with more projects on the horizon.
Our wonderful neighbour, Bokmakiri books, not just a second-hand bookstore but a cosy meeting place and venue that’s already hosted interesting speeches and lectures.
Wessel Kruger and his team at Pause Coffee for their artisanal roasting techniques using ethically sourced, single origin beans delivered fresh every time.
Alex has joined the aesthetics committee at our Municipality in working towards preserving the historic beauty of the town, while also getting involved in aiding the heritage committee in a family crest project.
Bruce has established a food garden with his family, garnering quite a following across social media in spreading the word of clean eating and permaculture in the home.
Andrew Hofmeyr and his team have resurrected a local kloof by building a sculpture garden, amphitheatre and nature walk called the Masbiekerskloof Valley Project.
With the right people we can bring out the best in what Swellendam has to offer, attracting like-minded, energetic individuals that together can build towards a town that will be an inspiration to visitors and a beautiful inheritance for our children.
